Tips and tricks[ | ]

Beginning of the game

  • At the beginning of the game, it is recommended to explore and find barricades to break for valuable resources.
  • Remember to close the doors when you leave the village.
  • If you don't have tools yet, you can still harvest resources by using Skill 1 (Right Mousebutton or 360 Y) on a resource deposit. Use on trees and stone deposits to get the branches and flint to build your first tools.
  • Finding shrines while exploring is crucial, as it will allow the player to teleport to them later to find the Jotunn and locate the objectives. In groups of players, everyone should generally split off for a while until the night comes.
  • Building the Quarry is a high priority, due to the difficulty of gathering Cut Stone and Wrought Iron for later on in the game. The Lumberyard is advisable to secure sources of Wooden Board for building gates and archer towers; However players may find it more beneficial to build the Farm first to stock up on the resources it provides to craft armour and potions later on.
  • The players weaponry will always be a priority to upgrade. Upgrading the blacksmith to get rare tier weaponry (Blue Background) is recommended, damage is important to advance quickly in the game.

Tricks

  • You don't have to spend souls to repair your axe/pickaxe, you can just upgrade them to the next tier at the tinkerer.
  • You can use a combat roll to jump down cliffs. Be careful as it can kill you.

Progress

  • The Jotunn must be fought before it approaches your base, as it will take time to do enough damage to kill the Jotunn. But don't kill him too quickly otherwise the next one will arrive earlier in the game. Jotunns level up with each spawn, a level 5 Jotunn could end the game.
  • Choose a saga quest at the stele to discover the ancients. There is no order to be able to do them.
  • Treasures are the best source of experience, souls and can grant runes. There is no need to do every camp on the way but it is important to do.
  • The caves are a little tricky at first but there are plenty of rewards.

Strategy[ | ]

  • On the first day, players should split up to explore as much of the map as possible, activating shrines, breaking barricades, collecting Iron and Stone. The priority is to amass levels and souls while locating the main objectives (Gateway, Bridge, beach camps, Outpost and Fáfnir the Sorcerer).
  • Upgrading the Tinkerer at level 3 will give access to crafting Cut Stones, Wrought Iron and Boards to fix up the Quarry, Lumberyard and Farm.
  • Those three structures should be repaired as fast as possible, in that order (Quarry, then Lumberyard, then Farm). It will cost 1800 souls, Wrought Iron, Boards and Cut Stones.
  • Your souls should then be spent on upgrading the townsfolk to level 3, starting with the Blacksmith (the Tinkerer should already be level 3 at this point), then the Trapper, finishing with the Armorer. Upgrading NPC brings a lot of experience to the group.
  • To start, it is advisable to use the Nornir Axe II. This axe has a very good DPS, sustain and requires accessible materials. You can obtain Linnorm Spike on Linnorm and Mushroom Moon Bolts in Land of Pools at night.
  • Fragments are important to unlock lairs. If you are in multiplayer, the number of fragments given is reduced compared to the number of players but there is one loot per player. It is therefore important to collect those fragments as a group because if they are missing, the game will be greatly slowed down. Same goes for Outpost and Roots in Niflheim.
  • With objectives and damage, all you have to do is gain knowledge of the game to complete all the challenges.
